Community celebrates Fruita Thrift Shop’s 75th anniversary

People gather in front of Fruita Thrift Shop, 142 S. Park Square in Fruita, as the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting event on May 1 to celebrate the thrift store’s 75th anniversary.

The Fruita Chamber said in a news release the celebration will extend to a variety of activities throughout the month of May, such as a community scavenger hunt designed to engage shoppers of all ages. Visitors are encouraged to stop by often or follow Fruita Thrift Shop on Facebook to stay up to date on special promotions and events.

The Fruita Thrift Shop is a fully volunteer-led organization, and every donation it receives is reinvested directly into the community, the news release said.

“This milestone is a testament to the power of community,” said Kayla Howell, president and CEO of the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce. “The Fruita Thrift Shop represents what makes Fruita special: neighbors helping neighbors; generosity in action; and a commitment to making a lasting impact.”
