Second nonprofit-board workshop set for June 10

After Third Sector Innovations’ June 9 board-training session filled quickly, it decided to offer a second workshop designed to educate new and seasoned board members about the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit-board service.

The second training session will take place June 10, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Redlands Community Center, 2463 Broadway in Grand Junction.

Registration costs $40 for the first representative of an organization and $25 for each additional participant of the organization, and the fee includes all materials and light dinner/snacks.

Third Sector Innovations is a nonprofit consulting and support firm based in Grand Junction and Littleton. For more than 30 years, the firm has helped nonprofits grow organizational capacity and sustainability. Third Sector Innovations founding partner Illene Roggensack will facilitate this workshop, which will include participation by some of the Western Slope’s leading nonprofit board members.

Training topics will include: the purpose of nonprofit boards; new-member orientation; nonprofit budgets and financial statements; board meetings and retreats; working with staff and interactions with the community; officer positions, leadership planning and committee work; board-member makeup, retention and recognition; and other important “dos and don’ts.”
