Writers symposium features Colorado wordsmiths

The 2nd annual Grand Mesa Writers’ Symposium is set for Sept.11-13 and will feature four individuals with deep Colorado connections.

Paonia native Paolo Bacigalupi is an international bestselling author of speculative fiction. His works include The Windup Girl and two young adult novels: Ship Breaker and Drowned Cities.

Telluride Poet Kierstin Bridger has won multiple poetry prizes for her books including Demimonde and All Ember.

A chronicler of the geography and history of the American Southwest, Craig Childs has earned numerous accolades for his nonfiction works including The Secret Knowledge of Water and The Wild Dark: Finding the Night Sky in the Age of Light.

Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer is a Western Slope poet, teacher, speaker and writing facilitator who co-hosts Emerging Form, a podcast focusing on the creative process. Her recent poetry collections are All the Honey and The Unfolding. She will be the closing keynote speaker on the final day of the symposium. A weekend pass is required to attend her presentation.

Tickets for the symposium are available on the Grand Mesa Arts & Events Center (GMAEC) website. A weekend pass, which includes all events Sept. 11-13, can be purchased for $160. Tickets for a Saturday, Sept. 12 single evening event, which showcases featured writers Bacigalupi, Bridger, and Childs can be purchased for $25 between now and Sept. 11.
