The United States Navy Band Commodores jazz ensemble will perform a series of free concerts November 9-17 across Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Colorado, and it includes a performance in Grand Junction.

The jazz ensemble performances are free and open to the public, though some require ticket reservations. The performance in Grand Junction will take place Nov. 15, 6 p.m., at the Avalon Theater, 645 Main St. in downtown Grand Junction. The 19-member U.S. Navy Band Commodores perform the best of big band jazz, from WWII-era swing classics and beloved standards by legends like Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Thad Jones, to timeless vocal features honoring Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.
