The Grand Valley Creative Alliance and The ARTery are teaming up with Museums of Western Colorado to bring the first GJ Día de los Muertos Celebration to Grand Junction at Cross Orchards Historic Site, 3073 F Road.
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) honors the people we’ve loved and lost with color, food and memory, the event organizers said in a news release. There will be food, activities, art and opportunities to create, learn and celebrate.
The event offers participants the opportunity to explore ofrendas made by five local artists. An ofrenda is a special altar created to honor and remember loved ones who have passed, often filled with meaningful photos, objects, flowers and other offerings that celebrate their lives.
The GJ Día de los Muertos Celebration will take place Oct. 30-Nov. 1. The hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 30-31 and noon to 4 p.m. on Nov. 1.
