Home Loan Investment Co. and Talbott Farms are the latest recipients of annual awards bestowed by an accounting firm.
Dalby, Wendland & Co. presented its Spirit of Western Colorado awards and bronze eagle statues during a Nov. 4 luncheon. The accounting firm has presented the awards since 2004 to recognize businesses and individuals that create lasting legacies in Western Colorado and demonstrate pioneering spirit.
Founded in Grand Junction in 1897, Home Loan has provided banking and insurance services for nearly 120 years. Home Loan twice has been honored as the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce business of the year and also was selected as a top workplace. Employees are encouraged to become involved in community and philanthropic efforts.
Jamie Hamilton, chief executive officer of Home Loan, serves as chairman of the Junior College Baseball World Series Committee and long has been involved in staging the annual competition in Grand Junction.
Talbott Farms in Palisade traces its origins to the early 1900s and today is run by a fourth-generation of Talbott family members. The farm includes 300 acres of peaches, 160 acres of winegrapes and 10 acres of pears. Talbott Farms also operates a peach packing facility that can process up to 150 tons of fruit a day. The Talbotts strive to fulfill a mission of producing value from the land.
