Accounting firm makes top 100 in magazine list

A Grand Junction-based accounting firm ranks among the top 100 tax and accounting firms in a new listing compiled by a magazine.

Accounting Today included Dalby, Wendland, & Co. in its Top 100 Tax and Accounting Firms and Regional Leaders in the U.S. Dalby, Wendland & Co, was listed as a top firm in the mountain states. Guidelines were based on revenue and staffing.

Steve Carver, chief executive officer of Dalby, Wendland & Co., said the Western Colorado accounting firm is seeing much of what other national and regional firms experience in terms of hiring staff to offer growing service areas that include estate planning, fraud and forensics, health care practices, small business planning and tax preparation.

“Our industry has seen a lot of changes due to the economy,” Carver said. “Governments need revenue, so they are being more aggressive and clients are being scrutinized more closely.”

Carver said that as financial reporting, bookkeeping and tax issues continue to change in response to economic issues and regulatory oversight, experienced accounting, auditing and tax firms are more in demand.

“We are also seeing an increase in services related to marital divorce and corporate divorce litigation that results in business valuations and consultations,” he added.

In response to the challenges that businesses face in a tough economic environment, Carver said several of the certified public accountants at Dalby, Wendland & Co have earned special designations in business valuation, forensics and technology to offer more services to their clients.

Dalby, Wendland & Co. has served Western Colorado clients for more than 60 years with offices in seven locations and a wide range of accounting, advisory, auditing and tax preparation services. For more information, visit the Web site located at
