Family Health West has scheduled a workshop to help parents and caregivers of children with disabilities adapt toys with everyday objects.
The workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. De. 2 at Colorado Canyons Pediatric Rehabilitation, 551 Kokopelli Blvd. in Fruita.
Toys can be adapted for children with physical limitations that enable them to active the toys themselves rather than rely on someone else to activate it for them.
The workshop will offer instruction and services to five or six local families. Each family will provide the toys they want to give children for Christmas. Family Health West will provide the instruction and materials to adapt those toys.
Family Health West needs materials and equipment for the workshop and is looking for monetary donations as well as donations of materials and equipment.
Those materials include switches, phone jacks, speaker wire and circuit board wafers. In addition, glue guns, soldering guns, metal files, pliers, sheers and utility knives are needed.
For more information about the workshop or donations, call 858-2572.
