The City of Grand Junction and Mesa County have announced plans to change addresses along F Road and Patterson Road to consistently use the name Patterson Road.
The changes, which will go into effect in a year, will involve about 450 properties along the F Road and Patterson Road corridor between Interstate Highway 70 Business Loop on the west and east.
The street name in that area will be changed to Patterson Road. All fractional addresses also will be changed and four-digit Mesa County addresses will replace some three-digit city addresses.
Affected properties owners will be notified about the changes, although the addresses of many properties won’t be changed. A series of open houses are scheduled for the week of May 9 to answer questions about the changes.
“We know that this is a huge project, especially for business owners. However, we’ll allow one year for the change to go into effect and we feel that this change will solve many of the problems we have had over the years with confusing addresses,” said Tim Moore, public works director for the City of Grand Junction.
The city and county joined with the U.S. Postal Service, emergency responders and county election and assessor’s offices to come up with the plan to deal with inconsistencies in addresses along F Road and Patterson Road. Those inconsistencies have made it difficult to locate some addresses for business customers, postal workers, emergency responders and visitors.
