Registration remains open through Feb. 29 for a workshop that will offer Colorado farmers and ranchers information about agritourism opportunities for their operations.
The workshop is set for March 3 at the El Paso County Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Colorado Springs. The event will include sessions on available resources, liability, marketing and price development as well as a panel discussion featuring agritourism business owners.
Admission to the full-day event is $20, which includes lunch and materials. To register or obtain more information, log on to www.coloradoagritourism.com.
“Agritourism is a growing segment of the agricultural industry in Colorado and across the nation. This workshop is an opportunity for producers to learn about agritourism and see if it’s a viable concept for their operations,” said Wendy White, marketing specialist with the Colorado Department of Agriculture.
According to the results from the last agricultural census conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2007, nearly 700 Colorado agricultural operations offered agritourism and recreational services, generating a total of about $33 million in income.
