Alida’s Fruits will offer samples and sell its jams and salsas as well as dried fruits dipped in chocolate in Sam’s Club locations as part of a trial to determine whether the retailer will carry the products on a permanent basis.
Alida’s Fruits will participate in what’s called showcase events in Sam’s Club locations in Grand Junction as well as Greeley, Littleton and Lone Tree.
“Sam’s Club has shown an interest in promoting locally made Colorado products. We’re doing tastings and selling two and three-packs of our salsas and jams and our dried fruit dipped in chocolate,” said Bob Helmer, owner of Alida’s Fruits.
“Showcase events are the final step in the process to determine if we’re a match for Sam’s Club,” Helmer added. “If we’re successful in our sales, they’ll invite us to have shelf space in their stores.”
Alida’s Fruits has garnered national and state publicity for its products and operations. A peach jalapeno jam received a positive review from national food critic Phil Lempert on his Web site www.supermarketguru.com. Alida’s Fruits also was selected as the featured member of promotional program for Colorado products.
