Alida’s Fruits garners national and state publicity

A Grand Valley business has garnered national and state publicity for its products and operations.

A peach jalapeno jam produced by Alida’s Fruits received a positive review in late November by national food critic Phil Lempert on his Web site at

Alida’s Fruits also is the featured member for January of the Colorado Proud promotional program for Colorado products conducted by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

“As an outcome of our review by Phil Lempert, we’re enjoying some great results,” said Bob Helmer, owner of Alida’s Fruits.

Alida’s Fruits sells fresh fruit and vegetables as well as packaged fruit products and gifts at retail outlets in downtown Grand Junction and East Orchard Mesa in the Palisade area and through an online store. The business makes a wide variety of jams, salsas, syrups as well as dried fruits, ice cream topping and pie fillings. Alida’s Fruits also operates an orchard and truck farm.

In addition to reviewing products on his Web site, Lempert serves as a food trends editor and correspondent for the “Today Show” and makes regular appearances on a variety of other network and cable television shows.

As a featured member of Colorado Proud, Alida’s Fruits appears on the Colorado Proud Web site. The business also appears in the monthly newsletters for the program and Colorado Agriculture Secretary John Salazar.

In addition, Alida’s Fruits appears in the latest Business Spotlight section of Colorado MarketMaker, an online marketing resource for agricultural producers in the state.
