Alpine Bank was among a total of 12 businesses, organizations and individuals inducted into the hall in recognition of their efforts to reduce environmental effects and waste while increasing energy efficiency.
“Alpine Bank’s Green Team, birthed in 2003, has always tried to think globally while acting locally. But we never dreamed that our local efforts to save money by reducing our environmental footprint and protecting our outdoor lifestyle might be recognized by an international group,” said David Miller, a senior vice president who serves as leader of the Green Team.
Founded in 2008, the International Green Industry Hall of Fame recognizes businesses, organizations and individuals that have embraced green technology, reduced environmental effects and waste from their operations and developed products that increase energy efficiency.
Headquartered in Glenwood Springs, Alpine Bank operates 38 banking offices across Colorado. The bank has maintained its Gold Leader designation in the Environmental Leadership Program in Colorado as well as its ISO 140001 certification for meeting international standards for environmental management.
Alpine Bank not only has reduced electricity consumption, but also invested in solar power projects and contributed to environmental groups through a debit card initiative.
