A Western Colorado-based bank has earned more recognition for its environmental practices.
Alpine Bank was honored as one of Colorado’s Top 50 Greenest Companies in a listing compiled for ColoradoBiz magazine. The companies were honored at the inaugural Green Colorado Awards presentation in Denver.
“The event, participants and 50 designated organizations selected are the green cream of the crop in Colorado,” said David Miller, who serves as chairman of what Alpine Bank calls its green team. “It is very gratifying to know that we are in such good company and that the bank is being recognized as helping make Colorado a better sustainable place for all of us and the next generation.”
Alpine Bank was the only bank in a group of six companies that received Green Colorado Awards in the financial, consulting and professional services category.
Alpine Bank also remains the only financial services company in the United States that’s earned certification for meeting international standards for environmental management. Alpine Bank first earned the International Standards Organization (IS0) 14001 designation in 2006 and has been recertified twice since then. The bank has implemented a system to conserve resources and reduce environmental effects that covers everything from recycling to energy efficiency to environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.
Headquartered in Glenwood Springs, Alpine Bank operates 37 locations across Colorado and employs more than 500 people.
