Applicants sought for college scholarships

Applications will be accepted through March 15 for college scholarships awarded in honor of the founder and chairman of Alpine Bank.

J. Robert Young scholarships are available to graduates of public high schools in locations served by Alpine Bank.  Applicants must have at least a 2.75 grade point average on a four-point scale and plan to seek business-related degrees from Colorado colleges. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need. Two, $1,000, renewable scholarships are awarded each year.

The Western Colorado Community Foundation administers the scholarship program. Online applications are available at www.wc-cf.org.

The scholarship program was established in 2008 by Alpine Bank employees and an executive committee to honor Young on the 35th anniversary of his founding the bank in 1973.

Headquartered in Glenwood Springs, Alpine Bank has grown into a $2.7 billion employee-owned organization that operates 38 locations across Colorado and  employs nearly 600 people. For more information about Alpine Bank, visit the Web site located at www.alpinebank.com.
