A committee will review and select projects for funding in November. The Grand Junction Lions Club will announce in January which projects have been selected even as the club begins selling raffle tickets as part of its annual carnival fund-raiser
The raffle and carnival will be held in February, and grants will be awarded starting in March as projects are completed.
The annual Lions Club carnival and raffle ranks among the largest one-day fund-raisers for Lions Clubs all over the world. Over the past 80 years, the Grand Junction Lions Club has given away a total of more than $5 million to more than 2,000 local projects.
Past Lions Club grants have included $100,000 each to the Western Colorado Center for the Arts, Western Colorado Botanical Gardens and Las Colonias Park.
