Aspen chef to demonstrate skills at spirited event

Glenn Smith, chef in residence at the Cooking School of Aspen, will demonstrate his skills at an upcoming benefit event in Palisade featuring fine foods, wines and spirits.

Smith will serve as the celebrity chef at Edesia, set for March 18 at the Wine Country Inn.

“Chef Glenn’s versatility and personality promise an informed good time for our guests,” said Jerome Strack, general manager of the Wine Country Inn and coordinator of the event. “Among chefs, he is unique. This is going to be a lot of fun.”

In addition to his work as a chef and caterer, Smith also stars in a cooking show broadcast in Aspen. He’s taught a course on seasonal cooking at the Aspen Institute. Smith has been featured in Veranda Magazine, Delicious Magazine, Traditional Home and Food and Wine. He also works as a standup comedian.

Named for the Roman goddess of food, Edesia features foods prepared by invited chefs and beverages poured by Rémy Martin and Colorado wineries. Smith will lead hourly demonstrations.

Tickets to Edesia sell for $49 each at the Wine Country Inn and online at Proceeds from the event benefit the Marillac Clinic, which provides health care services to uninsured Mesa County residents with low and moderate incomes. Last year, Edesia raised $7,000 for the clinic.
