Author presentations continue at downtown store

A series of free presentations featuring local authors is scheduled to continue at Crystal Books and Gifts with sessions set for 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 10 and 17 at the store, located at 439 Main St. in downtown Grand Junction.

The “Off the Shelf” presentation set for Aug. 10 will feature Sherry Ficklin and Edith Johnston.

Ficklin, author of more than a dozen novels for teen-agers and young adults, will discuss how authors define their writing style to connect with readers and complement their brand. A limited number of advance copies of her new novel, “The Canary Club,” will be available at the event.

Johnston, who also coaches people how to live their lives more fully, will discuss the art of mandalas as a way for people to explore their inner selves.

The presentation on Aug. 17 will feature Ray Coca and Karen McGee.

Coca, author of “Elite U.S. Dream Team,” will discuss the history of wrestling in Western Colorado. McGee will discuss her two books, “Miracle” and “In Name Only.”
