Author presentations to continue at downtown store

A series of free presentations featuring local authors is scheduled to continue at Crystal Books and Gifts with sessions set for 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 24 and 31 and Sept. 7 at the store, located at 439 Main St. in downtown Grand Junction.

The “Off the Shelf” presentation set for Aug. 24 will feature Denae Christine, who will discuss and sign copes of her new book “Rebel Deception,” and Terry Pickens, who will discuss the writing process. The retired director of the Mesa County Libraries, Pickens is author of “There’s a Lot I Forgot About Babies.”

The presentation on Aug. 31 will feature Diana Barnett and Jan Lawson, who will discuss how an author’s background shows up in writing. Connie Martinez will discuss her book recounting her family history and the food her mother used to prepare.

The presentation on Sept. 7 will feature Jeff Dershem, who will discuss the planets that have been discovered outside the solar system. Jim Hale, a mountain guide and pastor, who will discuss his perspectives about teamwork
