An annual head-shaving event in Grand Junction raised more than $75,000 to help fund research to cure childhood cancers.
The St. Baldrick’s and Community Hospital event at the Lincoln Park Barn in June exceeded its goal, organizers said. Additional donations continue to add to the overall amount raised.
Participants collect donations for shaving their heads. Since 2012, a total of more than 650 men, women and children have agreed to shave their heads in an effort that’s raised more than $250,000. Since 2005, the St. Baldrick’s foundation has raised more than $200 million through head-shaving events.
The 2017 fund-raiser in Grand Junction is tentatively scheduled for June 25. For additional information, visit www.stbaldricks.org/events.GJ2016.
