Barnes & Noble plans pop culture celebration

A variety of events are scheduled to continue through Aug. 10  at the Barnes & Noble store in Grand Junction as part of a nationwide Get Pop-Cultured celebration of popular culture.

A sing-along and storytime event set for 7 p.m. Aug. 1 will celebrate “Frozen,” the highest-grossing animated film of all time. Participants also will make a snow cloud and snowflakes.

Activities, giveaways and product offerings on Aug. 2 will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Marvel Comics. Participants will have a chance to win merchandise, including tote bags and posters.

More events on Aug. 3, including store offers, will celebrate the work of best-selling author James Patterson.

A celebration of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will include a junior ninja training academy set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the store. The event will include crafts and activities.

The Get Pop-Cultured campaign will conclude Aug. 9 and 10 with a celebration of works that have appeared on both the printed page and movie and television screens.

A Get Pop-Cultured sweepstakes will continue through Aug. 10. Prizes will include a $1,000 Barnes & Noble gift card and VIP tour for two at the Warner Brothers Studio in California.
