An annual benefit event featuring films and an outdoor gear sale and swap soon returns to downtown Grand Junction.
Now in its 10th year, the Manufacturers of Outdoor Gear (MOG) Outdoor Fest is set for April 19 and 20.
“As MOG has grown through the years, we’ve been able to maintain a grassroots, fun vibe that focuses our world-class outdoor community,” said Jen Taylor Muhr, founder and organizer of the event. “Beyond the great deals, beer garden and live music, there’s a deeper meaning to the MOG. Anything we can do to support a clean, recreation-based economy in our valley is energy well spent. The MOG is a fun and gratifying means to that end.”
The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. April 19 with a film festival at the Mesa Theater, 538 Main St. The event will feature short films from the Telluride MountainFilm Festival. Tickets sell for $8, $5 for Colorado Mesa University students with their CMU identify cards. Children 12 and under will be admitted at no charge. Proceeds will benefit the CMU outdoor program.
An outdoor gear sale featuring a variety of products from a range of manufacturers is set for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Rockslide Brewery at 400 Colorado Avenue. More than 50 booths will offer discounts on apparel, bicycle parts, footwear, skateboards, skis, tents and other equipment. Proceeds from the $5 entry fee will go to the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association and Mesa County Search and Rescue.
At the same time, a bike and gear swap also is planned for the parking lot behind Rockslide. For a $15 fee, participants can sell their own gear. Proceeds will go to the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association.
The sale and swap also will offer food and beer as well as live music, door prizes and activities for children.
