Bookstore to join in national observance

Crystal Books and Gifts in Grand Junction will join in a nationwide celebration of Independent Bookstore Day.

The event is set for April 30 at the store, 439 Main St, and will include an opportunity to meet with local authors. The store also will offer exclusive merchandise available only on that day.

From 10 a.m. to noon, Crystal Books and Gifts will host a coffee with local authors event. Participating authors will include Judy Blevins, Ray Coca, Frank Coons, Sally Crum, Frank Daniels, Jim Hale, Jennifer Hancock, Pat Martin, Marcella Martyn, Karen McKee, Alyssa Montalbano, Jerry Moorman, Phyllis Moorman, Carroll Multz, Heather Portenier, Mary Lu Scholl, Mike Shults and Jill Stacy.

The store also will sell merchandise created for Independent Bookstore Day, including books and prints. Customers will receive a custom tote bag with any purchase of $20 or more.
