Businesses and organization rank among best places to work

Two businesses and an organization with operations in Grand Junction rank among the best companies to work for in Colorado.

Edward Jones, a national financial services company that operates offices in the Grand Valley, ranked first among large companies with 250 or more employees in the 2014 Best Companies to Work for in Colorado program.

HopeWest, a Grand Junction-based organization that offers a range of services to people facing serious illnesses and grief, ranked second among large companies.

J.G. Management Systems, a technical management and consulting firm headquartered in Grand Junction, ranked sixth among small companies with 25 to 99 employees.

The Best Companies to Work for in Colorado program is an effort of the Colorado State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, Colorado Biz magazine and ModernThink, a research and consulting firm. To participate, companies and organizations pay to undergo employee surveys about such issues a benefits, leadership, management and strategy.

Edward Jones has made the list every year since the inception of the program nine years ago, ranking first or second. J.G. Management Systems has made the list in four out of the past five years, and ranked second in 2013.

HopeWest has made the list the past four years and has ranked second the past two.

HopeWest also recently received three awards from the Colorado Healthcare Communicators for an annual report, fund-raising event and internal communications. Terri Walter, senior vice president at HopeWest, received the President’s Award from the Colorado Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in recognition of her efforts to advance hospice and palliative care services in the state.
