Alpine Bank, Hilltop Community Resources and Shaw Construction were among the winners selected in the inaugural Best of Colorado Business Choice Awards program conducted by ColoradoBiz Magazine.
ColoradoBiz set up an online voting process. Participants were asked to vote in at least 10 categories for companies they’d trust to take care of colleaques and friends. Participants were allowed to vote for their own companies, but also required to vote for at least two other companies in the same category.
Alpine Bank was voted best bank and best mortgage broker and also named a runnerup in the category for wealth managers and financial planners. Headquartered in Glenwood Springs, Alpine Bank operates 38 locations in the state.

Wells Fargo was a runnerup for best bank and joined Colorado Lending Source as a runnerup for best SBA lender. Edward Jones was a runnerup for best financial planners.
The Commons at Hilltop in Grand Junction tied with the Primrose Retirement Community of Pueblo for operating the best retirement and assisted-living facility. The Commons offers independent and assisted-living services as well as short-term stays and care for patients with Alzheimer’s.
Shaw Construction was selected as best commercial and residential builder as well as best general contractor. The Denver-based firm also operates offices in Grand Junction.
Other award winners with operations in the Grand Valley and Western Colorado included Bellco Credit Union, best credit union; Coldwell Banker, best commercial and residential real estate agency; Denver Air Connection, best chartered airline; Jimmie John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, best delivered lunch; Land Title Guarantee, best title company; and Starbucks, best coffee house.
