Businesses honored under food safety program

Six Grand Valley businesses have been honored under a new food safety program offered through the Mesa County Health Department.

The Commons of Hilltop, the Dos Hombres restaurant in Clifton, Judy’s Family Restaurant, No Coast Sushi locations in both Fruita and Grand Junction and Pablo’s Pizza in Grand Junction have been recognized for joining the Partnership for Food Safety Program. The program constitutes a proactive approach to food safety that focuses on preventing food borne illnesses.

To participate, at least 90 percent of the food handlers at each business have a Mesa County food handler card or SafeServe certificate. A food safety certified manager remains on the premises during operation.

The businesses also maintain temperature logs and self-inspection forms and can document pest control contracts.
