Nearly 65,000 pounds of food were collected during the Stamp Out Hunger drive, an effort of the National Association of Letter Carriers and United Way of Mesa County.
United Way of Mesa County and its partners distributed bags to nearly 50,000 homes in the Grand Valley and asked residents to fill the bags with nonperishable foods. Letter carriers collected the bags as they delivered mail. The food was distributed to seven organizations in the Grand Valley.
“This was a small, easy thing to do with a big impact on hungry families in the Grand Valley,” said Julie Hinkson, executive director of United Way of Mesa County.
