Case manager wins social worker award

Joe Jueschke, a case manager with the Mesa County Department of Human Services, has been named the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Western Region Social Worker of the Year.

“Mr. Jueschke has demonstrated superior social work skills while working at St. Mary’s Hospital inpatient psychiatric care unit as he continues to work for the Department of Human Services child welfare division and as a clinician with Behavioral Health & Wellness,” said Bill Wimsatt, chairman of the NASW Western Region.

In addition to his 20-year career in social work, Jueschke gives back to the community by helping families with children in the neonatal care unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, remaining involved in the Mending Little Hearts organization, transporting donated goods for Hope of the Grand Valley and coaching youth, Wimsatt said.

Founded in 1955, NASW represents a total of more than 150,000 professional social workers from U.S., territorial and international chapters.
