Travis Wright, an officer with the Grand Junction Police Department, was honored by Colorado Cattlemen’s Association as its Law Officer of the Year for 2018.
Wright was among the recipients of awards presented during the trade association’s mid-winter conference in Denver.
In responding to a report of a cow that had been shot, Wright located a witness who saw a vehicle leaving the area. Wright also involved the Crime Stoppers program in the investigation and generated additional publicity for the case by forwarding news releases to media outlets. The alleged perpetrator was apprehended and charged and now awaits trial.
The association praised Wright for his commitment and persistence in the investigation as well as helping urban neighbors understand the importance of the beef industry.
