A series of fund-raisers will continue with an event that will offer a Napa Valley style wine and food pairing in the Grand Valley.
The wine and food pairing seminar is scheduled for June 15 at the Redlands Community Center, the second of four events scheduled to raise money for renovations at the center as the 100th anniversary of the historic facility approaches.
Located at 2463 Broadway in Grand Junction, the Redlands Community Center opened in 1920 and since has served as a venue for weddings, parties and other events. The center is among only a handful of structures in Mesa County placed on the Colorado Historical Society Register.
Doors are set to open at 5:30 p.m. for the June 15 fund-raiser with the seminar set to begin at 6:15 p.m. Tickets sell for $40 each. Seating is limited. For tickets or information about events at the Redlands Community Center, call 245-0204 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. A portion of ticket prices are tax-deductable since proceeds from fund-raising events go to the Redlands Community Center Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Jenne Baldwin-Eaton, a former winemaker for Plum Creek Cellars who now serves as an instructor of viticulture and enology at Western Colorado Community College in Grand Junction, will lead the seminar. She will discuss various production methods for wine and pairing Grand Valley wines with various foods. Tastings will be included in the event, which is open to those 21 years old and older.
