An executive chef and beverage manager from a popular Boulder restaurant are among the people who’ll present demonstrations at the upcoming Colorado Mountain Winefest in Palisade.
Kevin Kidd, executive chef at SALT, and Evan Faber, beverage manager, will headline the chef demonstrations at the Winefest. SALT, a bistro-style neighborhood restaurant, opened in 2009.
“Two of the best that Colorado has to offer are headlining this year’s event,” said Sarah Catlin, executive director of the Colorado Mountain Winefest. “These men bring a fresh new perspective to food and wine, and the pairings they’ll demonstrate with Colorado-grown products are sure to be superb.”
Kidd began working with SALT owner Bradford Heap in 2000 at the Chautauqua Dining Hall and Full Moon Grill. Kidd has trained in classic French and Italian techniques alongside Heap. Kidd was promoted to sous chef in 2002 and later that year took over as chef de cuisine.
Faber previously managed the wine program at the St. Julien Hotel and Spa in Boulder. Prior to that he lived in Colorado Springs and worked his way up from busser to wine steward at two restaurants in the Broadmoor Hotel. Faber received wine training through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
The 20th annual Colorado Mountain Winefest is scheduled for Sept. 15 to 18 at venues in Palisade and elsewhere in the Grand Valley. The Winefest includes wine tastings, demonstrations, tours, a grape stomp and other events. For more information, visit the Web site atwww.ColoradoWinefest.com.
