
Tamra Allen is expected to soon join the City of Grand Junction as community development director.
Allen is scheduled to join the city April 26 and will oversee the operations of the community development department, including economic development, historic preservation, planning and zoning. She fills a position that’s been vacant since 2006.
“I am looking forward to having Tamra on board to help shape and lead our planning and development efforts,” said Greg Caton, Grand Junction City Manager.
Allen has served as planning manager and senior planner of Garfield County. She’s also served as an assistant town manager, director of planning and town planner for Pagosa Springs. She holds a master’s degree in public administration and political science from the University of Colorado-Denver. She’s an accredited planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners and holds an accompanying degree in urban planning from Arizona State University.
