The staff of the Grand Junction Clarion Inn received an award for its community service.
The staff earned the Community Hero Award as part of the Awards for Property Excellence (APEX) program conducted by Choice Hotels International, franchisor of the Clarion brand. Now in its third year, the APEX program has recognized a total of 80 hotels and individuals in 10 award categories.
The Clarion Inn was one of only two Choice brand hotels in Colorado to receive a 2010 Apex award.
The Community Hero Award recognizes hotels actively involved in giving back to the communities in which they’re located.

The hotel and its staff raised $2,000 for a local animal shelter through an artisan show and fund-raiser, participated in a holiday food drive, made regular donations to a local homeless shelter and offered complimentary rooms to the American Red Cross.
