Clifton Water to apply drought rates, beginning in June

The Clifton Water District said in a May 27 news release it will implement temporary water-conservation rates in response to ongoing drought conditions affecting the region. The new rates will take effect in June and will be reflected in monthly customer billings beginning in July.

According to the news release, the purpose of the adjusted rate structure is to encourage responsible water use across the community. There will be no change to the minimum monthly billing for the first 3,000 gallons of water. However, customers whose usage exceeds this baseline can expect an increase in their monthly bill, reinforcing the importance of conserving water whenever possible.

The Clifton Water District urges its customers to reduce water usage by taking such measures as limiting outdoor watering, repairing leaks and using water-efficient appliances.
