CMU building among three projects for construction firm

Steve MeyerA new home for the health sciences program at Colorado Mesa University is one of three major projects under way in Colorado for Shaw Construction.

The $14.7 million project will renovate and add to a building that once housed Community Hospital and includes new classrooms, instructional laboratories and faculty offices. Outside, the grounds will include green spaces and an intramural field. One portion of the project is scheduled for completion Jan. 1, with the remainder of the work to be finished by August 2017.

Shaw Construction also is involved in projects to build a six-story apartment complex offering 99 units of senior housing in Denver and a 63-apartment senior housing project in Brighton.

“It’s always exciting to break ground on new projects that positively impact our communities, like building more senior housing for the baby boomer population and also creating more spaces for younger generations to continue their education,” said Steve Meyer, chief executive officer of Shaw Construction. “We are glad to be involved in such important projects in Denver and Grand Junction, both cities where we have an office and that we are proud to call home.”
