CMU launches crowdfunding platform

Colorado Mesa University has launched MavFunder, a crowdfunding platform that enables donors to choose the projects they’d like to support.

“I think being able to devote the entire gift to a specific project without any administrative fees being deducted is an important aspect of MavFunder,” said Liz Meyer, chief executive officer of the CMU Foundation. “I’m also
excited about how easy it is for CMU supporters to use.”

Crowdfunding raises funds from a large number of people for a specific project, usually through a website. Those raising funds share the project through personal networks. Projects featured on MavFunder must be initiated by and benefit CMU students, faculty or staff. MavFunder is free to use, and all of the donations go to specific projects.

A new set of projects will be selected each semester.
