Maurice LaMee has been hired to oversee the Department of Theater Arts at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
LaMee has worked as an assistant professor of theater at CMU since 2012, directing such plays as “The Glass Menagerie.” He’s also served as director of Aspen Words and artistic and executive director of the Creede Repertory Theater. LaMee holds a bachelor’s degree in theater from Loretto Heights College and master of fine arts degree from the National Theater Conservatory.
“I’m thrilled to be joining this outstanding faculty full time,” LaMee said. “I’ve discovered great joy in mentoring students and developing meaningful relationships with them in my four years teaching at CMU. I look forward to sharing my passion for the arts as a necessary component of a robust democracy and just society. I believe CMU is positioned to define itself as the best place to study and to begin a life of art-making in the Rocky Mountain West.”
