Gina Suzanne Owens-Ott of Grand Junction has been appointed to the Colorado Board of Accountancy.
Owens-Ott, an associate professor of accounting at Colorado Mesa University, will serve a term on the board expiring Jan. 31, 2023. Owens-Ott succeeds Christine Zurilgen Joyeux Noel, who resigned.
The board regulates certified public accountants in overseeing applications, examinations and certifications as well as acting on complaints.
At CMU, Owens-Ott leads courses in the principles of financial accounting, ethics for accounting professionals, professional preparation and audits.
A certified public accountant, Owens-Ott worked for a decade at a public accounting firm as well as in private industry. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University, a master’s degree from Emporia State University and master’s of business administration degree from the University of Missouri.
