College tour to connect students with film industry leaders

An upcoming workshop planned for Grand Junction will connect college students with film industry leaders from Colorado.

The workshop, set for April 19 at Colorado Mesa University, is one of four planned as part of a college road tour organized by the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media. The tour started at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Stops also are planned for Western State University in Gunnison and Adams State University in Alamosa.

“This road tour gives Colorado students unprecedented access to successful media professionals who will be discussing the ins and outs of the business,” said Donald Zuckerman, Colorado film commissioner. “This is a great opportunity to show our students how Coloradans have had great success in the industry without having to move to New York or Los Angeles, and that they, too, can use their skills in our state’s booming film industry.”

Zuckerman and producers and directors will visit the colleges. Students will have an opportunity to connect with industry professionals as well as meet with people from a variety of specialties after the workshops.
