Western Colorado Community College in Grand Junction has hired a new director of instruction whose duties will include in part responding to the needs of businesses for new programs.
Patton Massengill will take on the new position and also work on improving existing programs and integrating the values, vision and mission of WCCC into course programming.
Massengill has worked at WCCC since 2016 as lead academic goals advisor, serving more than 150 at-risk students at WCCC and Colorado Mesa University.
“Sometimes we find the best talent is already here,” said Brigitte Sundermann, acting vice president of community college affairs. “The ability to provide the community services required by our mission rests on the quality of programs. Mr. Massengill is the right person at the right time to provide outstanding educational and vocational services to the businesses and communities we serve,” she said.
Prior to joining Western Colorado Community College, Massengill served as a literacy instructor in public and private schools.
“My previous experience and current role with WCCC means I’m ready to hit the ground running,” Massengill said. “I’m excited to work with and earn the trust of students and business leaders as I strive to enhance their experience and expand the region’s work force.”
