Community Hospital has been selected to continue providing health care coverage for Mesa County employees.

Mesa County commissioners approved a proposal by Community Hospital and Anthem to provide care. Community Hospital was first selected in 2013 through a comprehensive request for proposal process when the county was looking to revise the health care plan for employees.

“I can’t express how honored we are to have been selected to continue serving county employees for their health care needs,” said Chris Thomas, president and chief executive officer of Community Hospital. “There have been a number of milestones over the past few years as we have worked to make Community Hospital one of the finest health care facilities in the state. The commissioners’ decision underscores our shared mission to provide the best health care possible for each patient.”

The proposal from Anthem using Community Hospital as the preferred provider was $6,513,000, offering a potential savings of more than $200,000 compared to other proposals.

“I believe this arrangement is a cost effective way to provide quality health care for our employees,” said Mesa County Commissioner John Justman.
