David Price, a Grand Junction lawyer who serves as chairman of the Community Hospital Board of Trustees, is among the winners of the annual awards presented by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
Price was among the recipients of the Trustees of the Year awards featured in the Feb. 13 issue of the magazine.
Price, an attorney with the Hoskin, Farina & Kampf law firm, has served on the Community Hospital board since January 2006 and as chairman since 2007.
“I am accepting this award as a proxy for all of my colleagues on the board,” Price said. “They have all worked so hard to support and lead Community Hospital and they certainly deserve to share in this recognition. In fact, the entire Community Hospital organization — board members, physicians and staff — have really pulled together as a team, dedicated to making Community Hospital the health care leader in a community already known for its excellence and innovation in that field.”
The sale of the Community Hospital campus on 12th Street to Colorado Mesa University will accelerate efforts to construct a new medical campus, Price said. Moreover, Community Hospital received a HealthGrades award for general surgery for 2012, he added.
Chris Thomas, president and chief executive officer of Community Hospital, said he’s enjoyed working with Price. “He is very inclusive. I watch him at board meetings pulling in the members who are new members or trying to balance the outspoken members to make sure everybody has a chance to give input. He orchestrates, but he is not domineering. This is a much deserved and fitting award.”
