A construction contractor headquartered in Grand Junction has received recognition for its work on a school innovation center.
FCI Constructors won the general contractor project of the year award from the Associated Builders and Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter.
Two members of the FCI staff also received awards during the Excellence in Construction Awards presentation in Glendale.
Shaw Construction, another construction contractor with operations in Grand Junction won a Merit Award.
FCI Constructors won an Excellence Award and the Project of the Year Award for the St. Vrain Valley Schools Innovation Center in Longmont.
The 50,000-square-foot center houses classrooms and laboratories that offers students hands-on experiences in everything from aeronautics and engineering to entrepreneurship and manufacturing. Students can earn professional certifications and college credits as well as work to fulfill private contracts with businesses. The center serves 33,000 students in the St. Vrain Valley School District.
Darcy Wojciechowski from FCI Constructors received the Young Professional of the Year Award. Marika Bacon received the Excellence in Marketing Award.
Shaw Construction won a Merit Award for its work on the Aspen Police Department.
The three-story building includes a 20,000-square-foot underground parking lot with a locker room and weight room, evidence storage and administration offices with patrol and interview rooms.
