A Grand Junction-based defense contractor has expanded its operations in acquiring a 35,000-square-foot building with manufacturing and office space.

Capco purchased a building on 12th Street nears its location at 1328 Winters Ave. The building will house a manufacturing operation that’s scheduled for full-scale production by the end of the year. The building also will offer space for additional expansion.

“Investing in technology, diversifying our operations and creating jobs in Grand Junction is important and exciting for Capco, said Cordell Bennigson, chief executive officer. “Meeting the high quality and high-reliability needs of our Department of Defense customers requires hiring people with a passion for excellence in all areas of our business as well as continually investing in new technologies to keep us on the leading edge of the industry.”

Capco recently announced it had been awarded three contracts worth a total of $113 million to supply products for the United States and allied military forces. Capco received a $39.8 million contract for impulse cartridges designed to eject flares and chaff from aircraft, a $38.9 million contract to produce machine gun tripods and a $34.3 million contract to produce bomb fin assemblies. Capco has supplied impulse cartridges since 2002 and machine gun tripods since 2013.

Capco has expanded its staff by 80 over the past two years and expects additional increases related to new product lines.

Founded in 1968, Capco designs and manufactures a variety of products for the Department of Defense and other industries. For additional information, visit the website at
