Doctors honored as community heroes

Three doctors are among the latest winners of annual awards presented by St. Mary’s Hospital and Regional Center in Grand Junction.

Dr. Perry Rashleigh was named philanthropist of the year. Dr. Jeffrey Nakano was honored as physician of the year. Dr. Gary Snyder received the Saccomanno lifetime achievement award. ANB Bank also was honored as the inaugural recipient of a corporate citizen of the year award.

“We are proud to recognize these community heroes who have made such a significant difference in the health care of the Grand Valley community,” said Michael McBride, president and chief executive officer of St. Mary’s Hospital.

Rashleigh was honored for his services to the Grand Valley not only as a physician, but also as a philanthropist.

Nakano, who has worked for more than 30 years as an orthopedic surgeon, has donated his services to perform free knee and hip replacements.

Snyder, a cardiologist, has worked to expand interventional and noninterventional cardiology services in Grand Junction.

The three doctors and ANB Bank were honored during an annual benefit ball that raised money for such hospital programs as the Rose Hill hospitality house, neonatal intensive care unit and CareFlight.
