After 38 years in operation, the Dos Hombres Mexican restaurant in the Redlands area of Grand Junction is under new ownership.
Jack Sigle purchased Dos Hombres from Scott and Mo Howard. Sigle has worked at the restaurant for 10 years, the last two as general manager. “I’m more than ready to take this on,” Sigle said of the restaurant at 421 Brach Drive. “I’ve been fortunate to learn from the best. The Howards have been great teachers and are thankfully just a phone call away.”
Gloria Howard and sons Scott and Spike Howard opened Dos Hombres in 1977.
“It’s time to move on and take a little time for us,” Scott Howard said. “We’re leaving the restaurant in very capable hands.”
Sigle said he plans no major changes. “We are considering some additions to the operations, like bringing back our catering services. But other than that, my goal is to carry on the nearly four-decade legacy.”
Dos Hombres will continue to host Give Back Wednesday nights in teaming up with local nonprofit groups and donating 10 percent of sales to those groups.
Scott and Mo Howard remain owners of two other restaurants in downtown Grand Junction: Dream Cafe and Rockslide.
“We’re still very much in the restaurant business,” Mo Howard said. “Our hope is we will have a little more time for rest and relaxation, and we’re looking forward to using the extra time to check off some of our bucket list items.”
Spike Howard continues to own and operate the Dos Hombres location at 3245 Interstate 70 Business Loop in Clifton.
