Three downtown Grand Junction bookstores plan to join in a national celebration of independent bookstores by offering discounts and other specials.
Crystal Books and Gifts, Grand Valley Books and Out West Books plan to join in the April 29 celebration of Independent Book Store Day.
People who visit the stores on that day will receive a free “passport” and stamp. Those who obtain stamps from all three stores will receive a $5 discount off any purchase over $25 at each store until May 31. Each store also will offer their own specials.
Crystal Books and Gifts is located at 439 Main St.
Grand Valley Books at 350 Main St. and
Out West Books at 533 Main St.
Dana Liesegang, author of “Falling Up: My Wild Ride from Victim to Kick-Ass Victory” will appear at Crystal Books and Gifts at noon. She will discuss her life story and sign copies of her recently book.
Crystal Books and Gifts also has scheduled a free presentation on brain integration for 1 p.m. April 30 at the store. Yolanda Del Hierro will discuss ways to optimize brain function to improve learning, creativity, job performance and physical coordination.
