Dr. Elizabeth Mensing has joined the emergency department at Colorado Canyons Hospital in Fruita, while Dr. Douglas Goforth has joined Balanced Rock Foot and Ankle. The hospital and podiatry clinic are operated by Family Health West in Fruita
Mensing works on trauma and other emergency cases at the hospital.
“Our emergency department has become one of our top priorities. The addition of Dr. Mensing helps us better meet the needs of lower valley residents, and we’re glad she’s part of the Family Health West team,” said Mark Francis, president and chief operating officer of the health care organization.
Mensing earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed her residency in family medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. She holds certification from the American Board of Family Medicine.
Goforth, a board-certified podiatrist, will join Dr. Troy Griffiths in caring for patients at Balanced Rock Foot and Ankle and also perform foot and ankle surgery.
“We’re always looking for ways in which we can expand our medical offerings to the community,” Francis said. “Combining the expertise of Dr. Griffiths and Dr. Goforth allows us to accept more patients who require specialized care for foot and ankle problems.”
Goforth received his degree at the Midwestern University School of Podiatric Medicine in Arizona and completed his residency at the Denver Veterans Hospital. He’s practiced in the Grand Valley four years.
