For a second year, sixth grade students at East Middle School in Grand Junction will sell custom-designed mugs, baked goods and other holiday wares as part of their instruction on entrepreneurism.
The event is set for 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and 2:50 to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 at the school, located at 830 Gunnison Ave.
Patrick Roenicke, a social studies and economics teacher at the school, recruited Grand Junction business owner Barbara Wise to coach 50 students in designing, manufacturing, advertising and selling holiday gifts. In the process, the students have learned about such setting budgets and goals and projecting expenses and revenues.
“This project has gotten kids fired up with enthusiasm — just like last year,” Wise said.
