Entries sought for benefit weiner dog races

Wienerschnitzel will host weiner dog races between innings of the Grand Junction Rockies baseball game set for Aug. 6 at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction.

The competition is open to Dachsunds whether they are registered with the American Kennel Club or not.

The top three winners will receive a total of $1,000 worth of cash and prizes, including four tickets to a Colorado Rockies game in Denver and lodging at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cherry Creek. Custom hats and shirts, Shell gasoline cards and trophies also will be awarded.

The wiener dog races serve as a benefit for the Roice-Hurst Humane Society in Grand Junction.
